2003 Porsche 911 (996) GT2 – one of the rarest production Porsches ever and one of only 129 UK RHD examples
Introduced in 2001, the 911 GT2 was the fastest production Porsche available from the factory, and the ultimate development of the 996 shape. Powered by the iconic 3.6 litre twin-turbocharged flat-6, and with widened bodywork, modified suspension, rear wing and carbon ceramic brakes (the first production Porsche to be equipped with them) amongst the changes, the GT2 stood out immediately as the ultimate combination of fearsome performance and understated Stuttgart styling. With 456bhp from 2001 and increased to a thumping 476bhp from 2003, the GT2 was not only the most powerful production Porsche to date but also one of the rarest in the history of the company – a fact that remains. Between 2001 and 2005, a mere 1287 examples were built, of those only 129 delivered as UK right-hand-drive cars. Compare that with the 1270 Carrera GTs built during the same era, and you can see the rarity of the 996 GT2.
This beautiful and original example was delivered new in 2003 as a UK RHD spec car, in Silver Metallic, and powered by the 476bhp factory upgraded engine. Optional extras include Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Club Sport bucket seats and Yellow Brake Calipers. With 40,000 miles from new and a lovely traceable service history, this very special, stunningly fast and rare Porsche is now finding its rightful place as an important and highly collectable piece of Porsche history.
